SOULAGES: L'Œuvre complet V : peintures 2013-2022
Morando, Camille. SOULAGES: L'Œuvre complet V : peintures 2013-2022. 312 pages, illustrated throughout in colour. 4to, cloth. Gallimard, 2025.
The fifth and final volume of the catalogue raisonné of Soulages' painted work brings together one hundred and ninety-five works created between May 31, 2013, and May 22, 2022, which bear witness to the vitality and creativity that animated the artist until the end of his exceptionally long life. This volume, which also includes an illustrated biography, was produced under the supervision of Colette Soulages, the artist's widow, who wrote the preface, and under the direction of Camille Morando and Alfred Pacquement, who took over from Pierre Encrevé, author of the first four volumes, who died in 2019. This work presents the last decade of the creation of one of the greatest contemporary French artists, who died in 2022, at the age of 102.
Volumes I (1946-1959), II (1959-1978), and III (1979-1997) were published in 1994, 1996, and 1998 respectively by Éditions du Seuil. Volume IV (1997-2013) was published in 2015 by Éditions Gallimard.
