A spectacular example of eccentric modernist book making from the little-known Portuguese educator and amateur printer Paulo de Cantos who lived from 1892 to 1979. A collection of aphorisms about personality, based on the essay collection Laughter: An Essay on the Meaning of the Comic, published in 1900 by French philosopher Henri Bergson. Although there are only 5 of de Cantos's illustrations, the entire book is a typographical jeu d'esprit.
