First edition of this rare and important landmark of twentieth-century art. Although it contains no original prints, Der Blaue Reiter is a key publication in any collection of twentieth century illustrated books, especially in Germany. It features articles on a wide variety of subjects, including one on the music of Arnold Schoenberg. Published just before the outbreak of the First World War, copies of both the first and second edition have long been hard to obtain. a small advertisement has been excised at the rear, otherwise a fine copy of a considerable rarity, usually only encountered in the second edition.
