The Index Book
WARHOL, Andy. The Index Book. 4to., bound in the original boards with a hologram cover designed by Warhol. In a new cloth folding box. New York: Random House, 1967.
A fine copy of this desirable pop art book. A quintessential document of Warhol's factory days profusely illustrated with the photography of Billy Name depicting the entire myriad of characters active in the factory. The contents are 1) pop-up Castle, 2) accordion-pleated squeeze toy, 3) pop-up Bi-plane, 4) spring-mounted "Chelsea Girls" promotional disc, 5) photographically illustrated dodecahedron, 6) previously unreleased Velvet Underground flexi-disc, 7) "nose job" overlay, 8) pop-up Hunt's Tomato Paste can, 9) "For a Big Surprise" faux Acid blotters, and 9) silver balloon, perished as usual. A delightful and important object, in unuusally fine condition, with the title-page signed by Warhol.
