An immaculate copy of Maillol's only book to be illustrated with etchings. An unusual book for Vollard, in that it is almost the sole book with his imprint in a small format. According to Strachan, this is one of Vollard's "finest masterpieces" (p. 36). One of 30 copies on Japon Imperial, of an edition of 230, accompanied by a series of 15 proof plates on various papers.
