One of the more spectacular books on colour theory. This copy consists of the original plates with facsimile text volume. The work demonstrates the colour system of Charles Julius Jorgensen, a Milwaukee decorator. This is "a simple and perfect color system, based upon the spectral colors, for educational purposes and practical use in the arts and crafts," using eighteen fundamental pigment colours illustrated on plate 0. The following plates show combinations of the colours, tones and tints, with two colour masks (plates 21-22) for finding neutral gray and separating colours in the combinations. The accompanying text gives a background on colour theory and an explanation of Jorgensen's system.
