-----. De Delhi à Cawnpore: Journal d'une Dame Anglaise: Pages de l'Insurrection Hindoue. [4], 301 pp. Paris: Michel Lévy Frères, 1859.

First Editions. Scarce collection of nineteenth-century nautical expeditions through Russian and South American waters (the "Delhi" voyage is in fact a fictional account). Maynard (1813-1858) was the surgeon of a French whaling ship and in this capacity he circled the globe, recalling his adventures and observations clearly and soberly. Several of his works were edited by his friend Alexandre Dumas (Père), who contributed a Preface to Les Baleiniers (translated in 1937 as "The Whalers"). Attractive copies, minor wear to hinge of the "Delhi" volume.
