Degas is notable not only as a painter, but as a collector of 19th century French art. His collection included Delacroix, Daumier and Ingres as well as many of his contemporaries such as Manet Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin. This collection has been reconstructed for an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum.
