GROSZ, George. Ecce Homo. With 100 plates of which 16 are in colour. Folio, 347 x 250 mm, bound in the original illustrated wrappers, in a new linen cloth folding box. Berlin: Malik Verlag, 1923.
An unusually fine copy of this classic work, rarely found thus. A brilliant collection of Grosz's savage caricatures of German life during the Weimar Republic. Although the illustrations are lithographic reproductions, their artistic importance is undiminished, and the majority of copies get broken up. This is edition C, the preferable edition, with reproductions of 16 watercolours and 84 lithographs. Issued as a paperback, it is almost never found in good condition, and never as here, in such fresh condition.
