A rare work on solar eclipses by Pietro Tacchini, an important scientist, who among his many accomplishments, was one of the fathers of solar astrophysics. Apart from its importance as an account of various eclipses. the book is a wonderful piece of book illustration, with its splenid heliogravures and chromolithographs, some of which have an almost surreal quality.
The fragile covers with some minor wear, overall a near fine copy. OCLC lists just 3 copies in the US, all in California.
