This special number of the periodical Wendingen devoted to the work of Frank Lloyd Wright is highly sought-after for the illustrated cover bearing one of Lissitzky's most frequently reproduced images, printed in original lithograph and letterpress in a design resembling his Prouns of the same time period.
Published between 1918 and 1931, Wendingen offered the first major European record of Wright's work after the 1910-11 German volumes of Wasmuth. The illustrations cover work done by Wright between 1902 and 1923, including a summer garden in America; a country house; shops; residences; cinema; a theater in Los Angeles; and the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. There are five essays by European architects, two by Louis Sullivan, and four by Wright himself. Issued in ca. 1400 copies. Cover in fine condition, text a bit toned.
