ALEKSEEV, S.S. Elementarnyi kurs tsvetovedeniya. [Basics of Colour Science]. 238, pp. Illustrated throughout with black-&-white plates and 4 colour plates at the end and one large folding diagram. Tall 8vo., bound in publisher's blue printed boards. Moscow, Leningrad: Izogiz, 1937.
First Edition. One of 5000 copies. One of the earliest Russian textbooks on colour science. Divided in to two parts, the first presents the basic features of colour, contrasting colours, colour harmony, colour in the arts etc. The second part features practical exercises for students to apply the theories. A sleeve on the rear paste-down would have held supplemental stencils, however they are lacking in this copy. Edges of the boards with some wear, overall a very good copy of a rare book.
