PORTUGALOV, P.A. Parki kul'tury i otdykha Moskvy: Putevoditel'... [Parks of
Culture and Recreation: Guidebook]. 113, pp. Illustrated throughout with photographs and plans. 8vo., 190 x 135 mm, bound in publisher's decorated wrappers and dust-wrapper by Buev and Iordansky. Preserved in a new light blue cloth folding box. Moscow: Moskovsky rabochii, 1935.
First and only edition, one of 1000 copies. A guidebook to the six Moscow parks detailing cultural, athletic and leisure activities. Most important is the discussion of Gorky Park, designed by the avant-garde architect Konstantin Mel'nikov in 1928. A large fold-out plan plus numerous photographs illustrate the everyday lives of Soviet citizens enjoying the 'golden-age' of the park from 1929 to 1937. A rare book, made even more so here with its fragile dust-wrapper still present, although a bit worn. Some water staining, still a sound, good copy.
