A spectacular example of Japanese bookmaking containing exquistely colour woodblock prints depicting poems with accompanying illustrations. The work is a typical example of the popular Japanese art style called Ashide-e, popular during the late Heian period (794-1185), which is a decorative representation of a poem (uta awase).
