Lebedev's finest example of Russian Futurist bookmaking, featuring Futurist posters originally made for the show-windows of the Russian Telegraph Agency. This rare book was published with bilingual text to present the posters to the rest of the world; each plate is protected by a tissue guard which also bears descriptive text in English and French (the one facing plate XXIII in facsimile).
V.V. Lebedev (1891-1967) was a Soviet painter, graphic artist, and member of the People's Artist of the RSFSR and the Academy of Arts of the USSR. He was one of the founders of the Petrograd Okna ROSTA, that created ca. 500 Cubist and Futurist posters during the early 1920s.
The introductory comments contain an advertisement for a second part, never published. Original wrappers repaired, but overall a fine copy.
