This beautifully printed catalogue documents the most extensive exhibition to date on the Spanish painter Juan Gris, featuring many paintings which are rarely shown or published. Six essays by noted art historians offer fresh insight on the artist's career from 1911 to 1927 (the year he died), reflecting on his relationships with Braque, Matisse, and Picasso, Cezanne's influence, and his own ideas about cubism. Each painting in the show is reproduced in full color. A second volume offers provenance and exhibition history on all the works.
