HOSPODAR, Stephen De. Block Prints by Stephen de Hospodar. Foreword by Everett Carroll Maxwell. Illustrated with 14 Woodcuts(of 16?). Folio, bound in publisher's cloth-backed boards and woodcut label. Los Angeles: Privately published, 1932.
A delightful book of woodcuts by the late Hungarian born, Los Angeles based artist Stephen de Hospodar. A set designer for films, Stephen De Hospodar exhibited his modernist woodcuts in the Los Angeles area for a decade from 1925-35. This copy would appear to be lacking two of the woodcuts. There is no list of plates, but we gather copies exist with 16 plates. One of an edition of 250 copies on hand-made japanese paper, signed by de Hospodar.
