A lovely copy in a deluxe binding. The collection of "love mottoes" was made by the publisher Arthur Humphreys over a period of many years. He describes them as couplets "which exercised the wit of many courtly rhymers of the Sixteenth, Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries."
