This splendidly illustrated catalogue accompanies a major retrospective of Brancusi's sculpture, drawings, and photographs organized by the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Centre Georges Pompidou. The text consists mainly of three essays which examine diverse issues in Brancusi's work; the plate section features full-color reproductions of over 100 sculptures with accompanying texts and visual references. Included are 55 photographs by Brancusi shown for the first time with a major selection of his sculptures, as well as over 40 of his drawings.
