This handsome volume reprints the original Columbus letter in facsimile from the Stephen Plannck Latin Edition of 1493, with an English translation. The fifteenth-century woodcuts, here printed in blue, are taken from the first illustrated edition of the Columbus Letter (Basel, 1493). These were possibly executed from Columbus' original designs. The map reproduced on the title-page is a sketch of the northwest coast of Hispaniola made by Columbus during his first voyage. As new.
