In 1935 Berenice Abbott embarked on a 5-year, WPA-funded project to document New York's transformation from a 19th century city into a modern metropolis. In this book, New York photographer Douglas Levere has revisited the sites of 100 of these photographs, meticulously duplicating Abbott's images. This book pairs their work, creating a unique visual record of the city's evolution.
