Since the early 1960s, this Alabama-born artist has explored the regional identity of the American south in his work, which includes mixed media sculpture, drawing, painting, and found-object assemblage as well as his better known photographic work. More than half the photographs reproduced here are previously unpublished, including new and vintage images and a series of never-before-seen Kodachromes. Published to accompany a touring exhibition.
