The original graphic work includes prints by Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Alan Davie, Jim Dine, Sam Francis, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Riopelle, and Andy Warhol. "Ting, a friend of [Sam] Francis, initiated the project to produce the 'most international' book as an illustration to his own poetry" ( From Manet to Hockney). Francis contributed six lithographs himself as well as soliciting artwork from his various artist friends.
Complete copies with all the prints signed are virtually unobtainable. This deluxe edition was limited to 100 copies of which this is No. 38 belonging to the 20 "Paris Edition" copies.
