A reevaluation of Grandma Moses' work, presenting a selection of 87 of her most important paintings. The artist's development is traced from her early embroidered landscapes to her "old-age style" (she lived till the age of 101 and created over 1600 works over the course of her lifetime), examining her working methods, the historical context of her creative output, and how the paintings themselves function in their merging of memory and imagination. Published to accompany an exhibition at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, and at six other museums.
